Friday night we held our 90th Birthday Bash at the Turvey Center and it was a wonderful bash indeed. Hundreds of our faithful listeners gathered for a cabaret style event that included great entertainment from the Alley Dawgs, Alex Runions, and Bobby Wills. We also gave away tickets to some great upcoming shows, and of course, the ultimate prize, a trip for two to the 50th annual CMA Awards happening in Nashville in a couple of weeks! It’s always great to meet our listeners and be reminded that what we do actually means something to some people. So, thank you to the best listeners any station could hope for!
Yesterday morning I saw something very unusual a couple of blocks from our house. I was actually alerted to it by one of our neighbours as I was heading over to the grocery store and thought I just had to check it out. Parked on the street was an SUV, which wasn’t odd at all. What was odd, was the fact that there was a car door jammed between the bumper and grill of the SUV. How it got there, I have no idea. I’ve got a feeling the driver wouldn’t have had any idea either.
I could only guess that the driver had to be drunk. How could a driver drive anywhere with a car door stuck on the front of their vehicle and not stop? I drove around for a little while, checking the neighbourhood for a grey car that was missing a door. There wasn’t one, which lead me to believe that this happened elsewhere and the driver just kept on going after the accident happened.
Eventually the cops showed up and had the car towed away.
If you’re waking up this morning minus a door on your grey car, I don’t know where that door is now, but I did yesterday morning. You might want to call the cops.
