The Royal Canadian Mounted Police welcomed 32 high school students from across Canada at Depot, the RCMP’s training academy in Regina, for National Youth Engagement Week.
From October 17 to 21, the grade 11 and 12 students got to experience first-hand the work of an RCMP officer.
The students participated in various activities during their week at Depot including cadet training, driving instruction and firearms simulations.
They also toured Depot and the RCMP Heritage Centre.
The students were selected from provinces across Canada.
Successful candidates were selected based on their academic achievement, community engagement, and a demonstrated interest in law enforcement.
Supporting youth is one of the RCMP’s five strategic priorities and it strives to give youth positive learning experiences and interactions with police officers.
Through this week, youth gained skills and knowledge they can use to become active partners in helping keep Canadian communities safe.
