This fall’s wet weather is hampering harvest at vegetable gardens northwest of Regina near Lumsden.
Hayley Lawford is co-owner of the 20 acre Heliotrope Organic Farm near Lumsden.
She says a wet summer provided a bountiful crop but fall rain has hampered harvest of carrots, beets and potatoes.
She says it is hard to harvest in the mud.
Lawford says the farm is operated with the help of a couple of seasonal workers.
Lawford says everything at the organic farm is done by hand, with the exception of a potato harvester.
The farm sells a wide range of organic vegetables at the Regina Farmers Market, as well as offering a bin service of delivering crops in season at a central Regina location for pre-booked orders.
