The best young female hockey players from across the country are in Regina to go for gold at the 2016 National Women’s Under-18 Championship.
The national championship, which began in 2001, features eight teams from across the country: Alberta, Atlantic, British Columbia, Manitoba, Ontario Blue, Ontario Red, Quebec, and Saskatchewan, with games being played at the Co-Operators Centre,
The event will bring together teams made up of the best female hockey players born in 1999 or later. and serves as an important platform for Hockey Canada scouts who evaluate candidates for the Canadian contingent that will compete at the IIHF U18 Women’s World Championship, as well as at other international events.
Games started Wednesday morning with the host team on the ice at 7 o’clock Wednesday night against Team Atlantic.
The final will go on Sunday.
