Yesterday my wife and I decided to cook up a turkey that I had bought last month when they were on sale. It was kind of odd. The only times we ever have turkey through the year are Christmas and Thanksgiving, and seeing as we’re usually invited guests for those special occasions, it’s not very often we cook one up at home. We could have left it in the freezer and thrown it out in a few months, so we thought, what the heck, let’s just cook it up.
There weren’t many mouths to feed yesterday. The only two guests who were invited over to enjoy the post-Thanksgiving, pre-Christmas turkey were our granddaughters. We could have invited some more friends, but have you ever had that feeling that you just don’t feel like entertaining a lot of people? Well, yesterday was that day. Four mouths around the supper at the Lewis household was just right.
So, if you hear me whining about how sick I am of turkey, you’ll know I’m not talking about the turkey that’s still left over from last month!
Anybody want a turkey sandwich?
