Very seldom on my way to work do I ever see a cop car on the road. I know they’re out there, I just never seem to run across one. The odd time I’ll see way more than one. That was the case this morning. Coming in to work this morning on 4th Avenue I noticed that Garnet St., about a block and a half north of 4th Ave. was lit up like Luna Park! There had to be 8 or 9 cop cars and a couple of fire trucks, all with their lights flashing. You would have had to be blind to miss that!
Usually, if I pull up on a scene with a lot of police activity, I’ll pull over, get out of my vehicle, and ask the first cop I get to what’s going on. This one was a little out of the way. I was already running behind schedule and didn’t feel like circling back a couple of blocks to get the lowdown.
I thought I’d leave this one to our crack team of early morning reporters here at the station. When I say “early morning reporters” I, of course mean, the one and only Mitchell Blair. A phone call or two usually digs up enough info to get a good story rolling. Mitchell’s not really a morning person, so this might just be the kind of story that gets his engine running this early in the day.
You’re welcome, Mitchell!
