The NDP is calling for tax relief for struggling day care centres in Saskatchewan.
Opposition critic Carla Beck says important licensed child care facilities are being squeezed by high taxes and could close.
She says Saskatchewan has the lowest per capita number of child care spaces in Canada and tax relief should be a priority.
Government relations minister Donna Harpauer says municipalities determine the tax rates for child care services and higher taxes are mainly limited to Regina.
She is encouraging child care services to speak to Regina city council about tax relief.
