For the first time in many, many months, I followed a gravel truck into work today. I guess it’s getting to be that time of year again. After a lousy October and a great November, it looks like the white stuff might be around from here on in. I’ve checked the forecast and I didn’t see any temperatures conducive to melting snow in the next seven days. Oh well, in my opinion, with the November we’ve enjoyed, we’ve really had one less month of winter!
I noticed the Christmas decorations hanging from the light standards in downtown Regina. I usually see the crews putting them up on my way to work in the morning, but I didn’t notice anyone doing that this year. They just appeared out of nowhere. Maybe the winter elves have been at work!
Tomorrow it’ll be time for the tree and all the decorations to go up in the Lewis household. This year I’ll have my little elves help me get the ball rolling. I’ll be picking up my granddaughters after school and after a meal of tacos(their choice for supper), we’ll get down to business. Usually, we set up our tree during the first weekend of December, but this year we decided to bring in the month with everything already set up. When I say “we,” I mean Kelcey and Courtney. For the last couple of weeks all I’ve heard is “Papa, when can we set up the tree?” Translation? Hey old man, the sooner we get the tree up, the sooner we can see all of our gifts under it! I get it. That was me 45 years ago!
Christmas is definitely for kids!
