The Edmonton Oilers picked up its first regulation win over the Arizona Coyotes since January 2011, with a 3-2 win in the dessert Wednesday night in a feisty affair.
Mark Letestu picked up three points and a “Gordie Howe Hat-trick” in the win for Edmonton.
Milan Lucic and Matt Hendricks also scored for the Oilers, who improved to 18-12-5 with its third straight win.
Martin Hanzal and Oliver Ekman-Larsson scored for the Coyotes who fell to 11-17-5 with its third straight loss.
Late in the game Oilers’ defenceman Eric Gryba received a five minute major and a game misconduct, for a check to the head of Arizona rookie defenceman Jakob Chychrun.
Else-where, Wayne Simmonds scored the shootout winner for the Flyers who edged the Capitals 3-2 in Philadelphia.
