The federal and provincial governments announced more than $38.6 million in funding for 28 projects province wide.
The projects are aimed at improving water, wastewater and transit infrastructure across Saskatchewan.
Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness Ralph Goodale along with Minister Responsible for First Nations, Metis and Northern Affairs Donna Harpauer, made the announcement Wednesday afternoon in Regina.
The federal government will contribute up to half of the funding – over $19.3 million, while the province will add over $8.9 million.
Local municipalities will fund the remaining balance of over $10.3 million.
Some of the projects include new and upgraded wastewater lagoons for nine municipalities around the province, and new buses for Moose Jaw and Prince Albert.
“Infrastructure is the foundation of the Canada we want to build tomorrow,” Minister Goodale said in a news release.
The investments are part of the bilateral agreement announced this past September, between Canada and the province.
“The Government of Saskatchewan is pleased to join with our federal and municipal partners to announce funding for 28 water, wastewater and public transit projects across the province,” Minister Harpauer said, also in a news release.
