Wanuskewin Heritage Park in Saskatoon has unveiled a fundraising campaign to expand and revitalize 6-thousand years of history.
The Thundering Ahead campaign is seeking 40-million dollars to acquire land for bison to return to their ancestral grounds while expanding and revitalizing the interpretive centre.
Saskatoon Tribal Council Chief Felix Thomas, who is the co-chair of the campaign, says the relationship between Indigenous people and the bison reaches further than just a source of food and warmth.
Another goal of Wanuskewin is to enhance their facility so it could become a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The Thundering Ahead campaign has already raised two-thirds of their fundraising goal.
