With the official announcement on Saturday that the 2018 Mastercard Memorial Cup will be coming to Regina, the mayor and the head of the Queen City Sports and Entertainment Group says some changes will be made to the Brandt Centre.
Pats co-owner Anthony Marquart says the home of the Regina Pats will have a different look to it with plans being to add about 500 more seats to the building on the west concourse with some corporate suites possibly being added on the east side. Adding seats would bring the capacity of the Brandt Centre to just under 7000
Mayor Michael Fougere said in addition to seats, there will be other upgrades performed on the 40 year old facility as the building will be showcased to many in the hockey world during the event with the city wanting it to be looking as good as it can for the 10 day tournament.
Marquart added another events will be held leading up to the Memorial Cup and to celebrate the Pats 100th year anniversary, but he would not elaborate when asked what those events will be.
