Regina mayor Michael Fougere may just nicely be into his second term having won the civic election last October, but the city is already looking ahead to the 2020 civic election.
After a record low voter-turnout of just over 20 percent. the city is looking at ways to engage the voter and get them to the ballot box.
Chief returning officer Jim Nicol says one thing which was popular during the 2016 election was the drive-thru poll at City Hall so there may be more of those established as we become more of a “drive-thru” society.
Nicol says the voter registration card may be dialled back somewhat and not look so flashy as some may not have realized what it was and simply threw it away thinking it was a coupon or something else.
