The provincial NDP has some questions for the government and finance minister Kevin Doherty
With a new sitting of the Saskatchewan Legislature right around the corner, the NDP wants to know where the 3rd quarter financial update is.
Speaking in Saskatoon Monday, interim leader Trent Wotherspoon says the government didn’t bother giving one last year saying it was too hard to compile saying they were shifting to summary reporting, but in the past it has been released in mid-February.
The NDP says for Saskatchewan families and workers, times are tough but, instead of providing honesty and stability, the Sask. Party keeps lying about the facts and throwing around phrases like ‘transformational change’ and ‘everything is on the table,’ They are calling for the government to come clean and release the 3rd quarter numbers which are long overdue.
Premier Brad Wall said earlier this month that the deficit stands at 1.2 billion dollars.
Finance minister Kevin Doherty refuted allegations the province is trying to hide things saying the numbers aren’t ready yet as they are being calculated and that we will find out in three weeks when the budget comes out what the financial picture looks like.
