Saskatchewan’s time at the Brier came to an end Thursday night.
The Adam Casey foursome from Regina played their final two round robin games on Thursday, first up they fell 8-5 to Northern Ontario a loss that eliminated Saskatchewan from playoff contention.
In the evening draw, Saskatchewan fell 7-6 to B.C. The only difference in that contest was the fifth end where Saskatchewan gave up a steal of two points and that was enough for B.C. to roll to the victory.
Those two losses mean Saskatchewan finishes with a respectable 5-6 record.
In other late draw action the playoff picture became much more clear, Newfoundland’s Brad Gushue beat defending champion Kevin Koe 7-6 to clinch a spot in the 1-2 page playoff game
Northern Ontario’s Brad Jacobs clinched no worse than a tiebreaker with a 6-5 win over Alberta.
While Mike McEwen of Manitoba can clinch first place with a win Friday morning after beating Ontario 8-3.
Friday sees the final round robin draw take place before the 1 versus 2 page playoff game Friday evening.
