Premier Brad Wall says a decision to shut-down the provincial bus service did not come easy.
Opposition leader Trent Wotherspoon says STC is a life-line for rural Saskatchewan and the closure of bus service is a mistake.
He says seniors, workers and families rely on bus service to travel and move packages.
Premier Brad Wall says it was a difficult decision but ridership has declined significantly.
He says the subsidy has reached close to one hundred dollars per passenger.
Over the next five years, he says it would cost 85 million dollars or more to support STC.
Wall says government priorities need to focus on health care, education and infrastructure.
He says if the private sector wants to take over some routes, they would be welcome to do so.
