To celebrate the legacy of urbanist Jane Jacobs, another Jane’s Walk is being held in Regina this May.
Jacobs was well-known — especially in New York — for her modern urban planning and being a vocal advocate for preserving cities.
Regina Jane’s Walk organizer Laura Pfeiffer said walks in her honour continue to take place throughout North America as they give residents a chance to showcase what’s important in their own communities.
Here in the Queen City, Pfeiffer said the Jane’s Walks are popular because people get to show off their favourite parts of the city, like their favourite walking paths, places to grab coffee and so on.
She encourages anyone who has an interesting route they would like to share with Jane’s Walk, to contact the organization as they are now accepting submissions.
This will be Regina’s ninth year taking part in the walk.
