Friday afternoon while I was in Assiniboia, my wife called my on my cellphone. She was heading out to get some groceries and asked if there was anything that I needed. My first thought was, “you’re going for groceries?” I can’t remember the last time she went and bought groceries. Shop? Yes. For groceries? No.
When I got home that night we were sitting on the couch talking when she mentioned she forgot to get an item on her list. Hey, been there done that! Then she said, “no worry though. You can pick that up when you go and wash my vehicle for me tomorrow.” Smooth. Being the good husband I am, I agreed that I could take care of that for her.
So, at 7:30 Saturday morning I was on my way to the car wash, which I was very happy to see was totally empty. I was the only one there! My vehicle was filthy as well so I decided I’d get that one cleaned up as well, although I didn’t get mine to the wash until the next morning.
Then on Saturday afternoon I decided it was time to put our patio set out and get ready for the summer ahead. On my wife’s advice, I put everything out except the chair cushions, which I left in the shed. It looks like we might get some rain this week, so I agreed with her “no cushion” request.
Yesterday we headed out to Grasslands to get a new mat for our kitchen. Somehow I knew we’d end up buying more than just a mat. I just couldn’t believe she wanted me to go shopping with her. Apparently she forgot about all the whining I did on our previous shopping dates. What a waste of time that turned out to be. I was hoping all along that she’d never invite me to shop with her again.
While were in line waiting to pay for some clothes on one of our stops, a lady came up to me and asked, “are you Jamie from the radio?” When I replied I was, she went on about how much she enjoys listening to the morning show. Thank you Jillian. I introduced my wife and Jillian said, “he talks about you on the radio all the time.” Alright. That’s enough Jillian. Just move it along here! Here’s five bucks, beat it! I kid, of course. I always love meeting our listeners.
Unfortunately, things went so well yesterday that I fear my wife will want to take me shopping again!
