A staff member at the high school in Wilkie is dead and her death is considered suspicious by RCMP.
While RCMP have not named the woman whose body was found on a property northeast of the town in the RM of Buffalo, the Living Sky School Division has sent a letter to parents saying Heidi Veit, an educational assistant, died suddenly and unexpectedly.
The RCMP’s emergency response team, along with members of the RCMP’s major crimes unit have been at the scene where the body was discovered
Both the high school and elementary school were placed in a hold-and-secure mode for the afternoon.
Word of Veit’s death spread quickly in the community as friends and acquaintances posted their tributes onto social media.
RCMP say they are looking for Wesley Veit who may have information related to the incident.
They say anyone knowing his whereabouts should not contact him, but call the nearest RCMP detachment or Crimestoppers.
The school — in a letter to parents — said a crisis intervention team is in place “to allow students an opportunity to talk about their thoughts and feelings.”
Counselling services will be in place for students and staff for the “foreseeable future,” the letter read.
