If there are things you are not happy with, you’ve got to speak up or nothing will change.
That’s why two organizers decided to begin the Drop Everything and Read to support local libraries, in protest of funding cuts.
One of the organizers on the Facebook group, Leslie Richards, is asking everyone to head out with a book on Friday, April 7th between noon and 12:30 and just read in front of your local MLAs office.
“If we lose this funding if it’s not brought back, we will lose our libraries so this is a time to speak up. Not next year, this is the time to stand uo and be a voice for the library system,” Richards said.
This is a province-wide event with the public encouraged to something similar in each community.
Richards said the funding cuts could mean the loss of programming, reduced hours, staff layoffs or possibly closing branches and communities would suffer if that happens.
