To Whom It May Concern,
My intention was to play it cool and just let this slide, but after staring at my SCMA award for a few hours this morning I was “moved” to acknowledge some important people in my life/career…. Or I could just be getting more sentimental with age? Regardless, I’m not usually one to ”toot my own horn”, but after dwelling on it and answering numerous emails and social media feedback, I realized that winning/sharing the SCMA On Air Personality Of The year, included more individuals than just myself and I have no problem in spreading the acknowledgements where they truly belong.
First and foremost, I must thank my soulmate and the love of my life, Donnie, for the undying/unwavering support to my long hours and crappy pay in the beginning and the unforeseen multitude of sacrifices she has made so that I can “play radio”. We missed many personal and family milestones in the past and for that l will forever hold you nearest to my heart. Without you my career is not possible or as exciting.
To my parents and siblings, I appreciate the positive influences for this one time “pipe dream” I had back in grade 10 and letting me follow through on it. To everybody back in my childhood who ever played music for me, you had just as big of an impact on my future as anyone else. I acquired a very eclectic taste for all types of music in my lifetime and I still say, “a good song is a good song”.
That leads me to the great organization and personnel I work with and for. Jason Huschi, Karen Broderick & Grant Biebrick, thank you, for making my “twilight” years the best of my career. I have never been so inspired and grateful to have leaders who lead by example and have given me the creative freedom to do a job I love to do. To the entire staff, I can’t tell you how excited I am to come to work these days and be a part of a well tuned machine. Whether it’s a salesperson or a copy writer…. I have fed off your positive vibes and I know how very privileged I am to work with such class acts such as yourselves. Thirty years, this fall in the business, and I’m just as excited as ever to go in to work. I can’t mention everyone’s name, but you must know, that I appreciate everyone’s role at Harvard Broadcasting.
To my on-air co-workers (past & present) and the cast & crew of 620 CKRM, thank you for making my job a pleasure daily. You can’t do what you do without surrounding yourself with good people. I work with the best.
To the other nominees and co-winners of this award, I know each and everyone of you and the dedication and appreciation you have for your jobs is only surpassed by the charisma and charm you bring out in others. I Would be honoured to work with anyone of you and for some l have.
This award is a validation to the job and industry I love. To everyone who voted for me and to the SCMA Organization thanks for acknowledging my passion and letting me be one of your Hot-Air Personality’s of the year.
