If all goes to plan, Souls Harbour Rescue Mission will break ground on their new facility in North Central Regina this July.
Three years of planning have been invested into this new project – one which will move the 100-year old facility on Halifax Street to the new project on Anguus.
Joseph Miller is the Executive Director for Souls Harbour Rescue Mission.
He says planners are near the 75-percent design phase and they are anticipating foundation permits and tendering phases to be complete shortly as well.
He says this new facility is crucial for Regina.
Miller says the new Souls Harbour will double shelter from 12 to 24 beds the size of the soup kitchen will be increased and they will be adding 17 more affordable housing suites and a second daycare.
The location of the new building will be located beside the affordable housing apartment building Souls Harbour currently owns.
