The opposition is critical of a new education bill in the Saskatchewan legislature.
NDP critic Carla Beck says the legislation will take control away from local school boards and put it in the hands of the provincial government.
Education minister Don Morgan says the proposed legislation will prevent school boards from making bad decisions.
Premier Brad Wall says a recent court ruling on separate schools will cause serious problems for the school system.
He described it as a turf war between school boards and the government will explore all avenues to keep the ruling from causing serious disruption.
He cited it as an example for the need for the new education act legislation.
He says school boards have spent millions of dollars in the court battle.
