Saskatchewan Roughriders head coach and general manager Chris Jones officially unveiled his 2017 coaching staff in advance of the team’s mini-camp which starts Tuesday in Vero Beach, Florida.
The coaching staff is as follows:
Chris Jones – vice president of football operations, general manager & head coach
Craig Dickenson – special teams coordinator
Stephen McAdoo – offensive coordinator & assistant head coach
Jarious Jackson – pass game coordinator & quarterbacks coach
Markus Howell – receivers coach
Kent Maugeri – running backs coach
Stephen Sorrells – offensive line coach
Jason Shivers – defensive backs coach
Ed Philion – defensive line coach
Merritt Bowden – linebackers coach & special teams assistant
Craig Davoren – defensive assistant
Mike Scheper – defensive assistant
Ty Robinson – quality control
Cam Robinson – quality control
Clinton Spencer – strength and conditioning coordinator
Sorrells is the only new addition as he takes over as offensive line coach with Mike Schepers moving to the defensive side of the ball.
The native of Greenville, Alabama spent last season as a graduate assistant at Southern Methodist University. Prior to that, Sorrells worked as the offensive line and assistant head coach at Pearl River Community College.
Sorrells brings extensive knowledge to the Riders having also spent time coaching at the University of Alabama-Birmingham, Faulkner University (2007-08), Occidental College (2010-12), and Kenyon College (2012-13) where he was the team’s offensive coordinator.
