Weyburn RCMP will probably keep this one in the record books for a while.
On Friday May 5th, around 3:45 pm, a member of the Weyburn RCMP was conducting speed enforcement on highway 39 between Yellow Grass and Mctaggart.
According to a media release, the officer was checking the speed of an oncoming vehicle, when a second vehicle entered the radar beam and showed a speed of 189 km/h.
RCMP continued to track the 4 door Jeep Wrangler, which continued to travel well over the posted speed limit of 100 km/h.
In fact, the vehicle speed was confirmed on radar to be travelling at 168 km/h.
The driver was issued a ticket with a voluntary fine payment of 492-dollars.
The vehicle was seized on the spot and impounded for 7 days under the Traffic Safety Act for travelling more then 50 km/h over the speed limit.
