My mom had a very busy couple of days this last weekend. On Saturday she celebrated her 83rd birthday and then on Sunday, of course, she celebrated Mother’s Day.
When I called her Saturday morning to wish her a Happy Birthday, I was very happy to know that the cards I had sent the previous Monday had arrived on Friday. That doesn’t always happen and it’s a little embarrassing when it doesn’t. There have been times when the cards arrive a couple of days late, thanks to a little thing called procrastination. Oops. I consider May my practice month for cards. If I can get two out to my mom on time in May, I like my chances for June.
June is a busy month for cards. Dad’s birthday is June 9th. Then, the very next day, it’ll be mom and dad’s 67th anniversary. Those, of course, will be followed by Father’s Day. I sure would like to go 5 for 5 when it comes to having cards delivered on time this year. I could plan on picking up some cards after work today, but I know that won’t happen. What will happen is I’ll remember to grab some cards on June 1st and have them in the mail in the following days. Then, when I call my dad to wish him a happy birthday, I’ll wait for him to thank me for the card. If that “thank you” doesn’t come, I’ll instantly know that I waited a little too long to do my card mailing.
I only mail out 5 cards every year. You’d think I’d have some kind of a system down pat by now!
