Well, there goes another long weekend that went by a little too quickly!!
Friday afternoon got off to a great start. I puttered around the yard a bit and went over to our neighbour’s house to borrow his dog to bring over for a play date with Max. While I did my thing they ran around the yard for an hour or so and did their thing. Everyone was happy.
Later in the afternoon my wife and I and a friend of hers were sitting on the deck enjoying the beautiful weather when a car alarm went off. It went on four about four or five minutes. Either the owner of the vehicle had no idea their alarm was going off or they weren’t at home to shut it off. It was getting to be a little annoying. My wife finally said, “I wonder if that alarm is coming from one of our vehicles.” I decided to head out front and check. The sound was certainly coming from our street, but it wasn’t one of our vehicles. It turned out to be the truck across the street and I knew the couple who lived in that house were both working at the time. The doors to the vehicle were unlocked so I went into the vehicle and disabled the alarm.
The next day I went across the street to tell my neighbour about the alarm incident. After I told him, he went into the living room and came back with the remote control for his vehicle. It didn’t look to be in good shape. He said, “that would explain this.”Apparently, their dog had grabbed the key chain from wherever it was sitting in the house and started to chew on it. That set the alarm off and unlocked the doors! Mystery solved.
Their dog is at that age when he will chew just about anything, including the key chain. From now on I’ll keep an eye on that house, just in case that dog has the ability to chew his way through the front door!
