Keynote Speaker Annie Battiste is expected to shed some light on how school principals in the province can adhere to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s calls to action at a conference in Saskatoon this week.
The Canadian Association of Principals Conference will also focus on innovations in education and transformational change.
Conference Co-Chair Carol Sarich says the conference will help principals in all aspects of their jobs and everything they deal with on a daily basis whether it’s inclusive education to supporting special needs students and supporting teachers in the classroom.
Sarich says because principals are the “shepherds” of the staff and students in schools, it is important to take this time to ensure they understand everything that is going on not only in their school, but also the experiences their fellow administrators have gone through.
One of the feature events at the conference is slated to be talking about the TRC’s calls to action on Thursday.
The conference is taking place at the Bessborough and the Sheraton Cavalier.
