A decision is expected this week about the future of the STC.
Saskatchewan only bus company was informed during the provincial budget it would be shut down at the end of this month.
The government announced it wanted to direct those funds to other areas,
The judge mulling whether to temporarily halt the impending closure of STC is expected to make a decision soon.
Lawyers for Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1374 made their arguments in the Court of Queen’s Bench in Regina Thursday for why an injunction should or should not be allowed.
Lawyer James Fyshe says bringing this issue to court allows voices to be heard on this issue.
“It gives us an opportunity to try to convince the company and the government that their decision is misguided,” said Fyshe. “They’ve ignored us. And so, we’re hopeful that if we win this case, they will then have to come to the table and talk with us.”
If the injunction is granted, Fyshe says a hearing focused on the government’s decision to wind down STC will be next.
