Energy minister Dustin Duncan has delivered a letter to federal minister of Natural Resources Jim Carr on the modernization of the National Energy Board.
Duncan says he is letting Carr know there are positives and negatives to the report as far as the government is concerned, and that the government shared three main interests with the panel in charge of modernizing the N-E-B.
Those interests were gaining greater access to tidewater for Canadian-produced oil, to prioritize moving toward pan-Canadian crude oil self suffiency and to repair the image of Canadian crude oil on a global basis.
Duncan is also suggesting the N-E-B move its Board of Governors to Saskatchewan as the group needs to remain in Western Canada.
It has been suggested the board move from Calgary to Ottawa.
