Any thoughts of Carla Beck running for the leadership of the provincial NDP can be put to rest as Beck has said it will not be happening.
In a Facebook post, the Regina MLA says she is touched and honoured by the confidence and support so many have shown her, but she is not going to take a run at the leadership for a variety of reasons. She adds the decision not to run was not an easy decision to make, but is the right decision.
While not running for the leadership, Beck says she remains dedicated and is more committed than ever to help build a campaign that fights back against the Saskatchewan Party’s cuts as they look to earn the trust of Saskatchewan voters.
At this time, Ryan Meili is the only declared candidate for the leadership while former interim leader Trent Wotherspoon is considering whether or not to throw his hat into the ring.
