Summer officially arrives on Thursday for school kids across Regina and Saskatchewan.
The bell will ring for the final time today marking the beginning of summer holidays as classes will not resume until September.
When they do, things will look a little different in the public system as the Regina publicboard of education passed a budget that will see 22 full time teaching positions eliminated due to provincial cutbacks. It was one of many moves made to deal with a shortfall. Some other moves include the discontinuation of some programs, and a change in bussing for some students.
When the new year begins, there will be new schools as well as 18 new joint-elementary schools will open its doors in Regina, Saskatoon, Warman and Martensville
