The Ottawa REDBLACKS signed former Riders defensive lineman Jonathan Newsome to a contract Friday.
Moments after he signed with Ottawa, Newsome took to Twitter to explain what happened earlier this week leading to his release from the Riders in what head coach/general manager Chris Jones said was a difference of opinion.
Newsome says that difference of opinion stemmed from some things Jones claimed to have heard about Jones conducts day-to-day business.
He says Jones accused him of saying “it was messed up around here”.
Newsome says he told Jones that was not the case, but Jones said he trusted his source which was defensive line coach Ed Philion.
Newsome goes on to say he would never question how my coaches coach or what their football philosophies are, and that he tried to be coachable during his tenure in Saskatchewan.
