Day two of the Council of federation continued in Edmonton on Tuesday.
Premier Brad Wall once again spoke to the media, with a hot topic being the NAFTA renegotiation’s and U.S trade in general.
Wall said Prime Minister Justin Trudeau told them the nations Premiers can help work towards a new NAFTA deal by staying in contact with U.S Governors .
“The Prime Minister has asked and encouraged us as Premiers to be engaged with Governors, and other contacts, either industry contacts we have in the United States, to make a case for trade, and we have a powerful case to make with our friends in the United States,” Wall told reporters.
“They have a trade surplus with us, that’s at the top of the list, so there’s more to lose than gain if there’s some in the U.S that believe Canada has this huge trade surplus with the U.S, in fact the opposite is true,” Wall went on to say.
The three day event wraps up on Wednesday.
