Saturday morning my wife and I were up and on the road early. One of our granddaughters is celebrating a birthday on Saturday so we thought we’d head out, wish list in hand, and get a jump on her gift shopping.
After we were done, we decided to head out for breakfast at Humpty’s. The last time we were there, there was a bit of a mix up in the kitchen, which resulted in my breakfast taking nearly an hour to get cooked. After waiting so long, I canceled my order completely and watched my wife enjoy her breakfast. We’d eaten there many times before and we’d never had a problem. Stuff like that happens.
Saturday morning we had the same waiter that we had the previous time we were there. You couldn’t ask for a more personable guy to wait on your table. Very friendly and very good at his job.
After his second or third trip to our table he asked if he had waited on us before and if there was a bit of a problem the last time we were in there. When I told him what had happened, he apologized profusely, after which we all had a good chuckle. It really wasn’t that big of a deal. Although I left the restaurant hungry that day, I didn’t leave angry.
After our breakfast I went up to the counter to pay and left a nice tip. He deserved it.
Seeing as I usually lambaste people with very poor service skills on this blog, I think it’s only fair to applaud people with great service skills. This guy had those in abundance.
