A Saskatchewan school principal who is originally from Yorkton is walking across the province raising awareness and funds for Huntington’s Disease.
Greg Shwaga says the idea came about a year ago, after his mother-in-law passed away from the degenerative disease.
“I wanted to do something to raise awareness ever since then,” said Shwaga when contacted during his walk. “There’s not a lot of people who actually know about this disease.”
Since starting his walk at Macklin on the Alberta border, he’s raised 15-thousand dollars.
He expects to finish at Lake of the Prairies on the Manitoba border in 2 weeks.
Shwaga is documenting his journey on twitter and posts regularly about his challenges and successes.
