A job well done by the organizers of the Queen City Exhibition for a terrific parade and amazing fireworks display on Tuesday night. The parade floats were full of colour and creativity. The thing I love about parades is how it binds a community/city together for an hour because who doesn’t love a good parade?! it allows us to forget our problems, set aside difference and we all get to be kids again for a short time. Anywhere between 80 and 100 floats travelled down Dewdney and Broad streets.
After the parade, folks cruised over to Wascana Park to pull up a prime piece of land from which to watch the fireworks show, and what a show! It’s funny how one day we’re boiling hot at 37C and 48 hours later it’s chilly, raining and people are cloaked in heavy blankets and wearing spring jackets! The rain ended at about the exact time the fireworks started which was around 9:30 p.m.. A massive display of fireworks continued for nearly 25 minutes with lots of ohhhhh’s and awwwwww’s coming from the crowd. I was one of them!
If the parade and fireworks display is any indication, the 2017 Queen City Exhibition will be one for the books. Enjoy the fair all!
