Mayor Renee Reimer-Horner has built a house in the community that she plans to sell to put towards to 2-million dollars left for the complex.
The 14-hundred square foot bungalow is located on a corner lot in Aberdeen with 3 bedrooms, a deck, attached garage, and ample yard space.
“Our interest costs are huge on two-million dollars,” Reimer-Horner said. “So just by putting something that large, like 10-percent of the costs down saves us huge amounts of money. It benefits the town, it benefits the RM. It helps our taxes. And this house will be sold hopefully to a family who will stay.”
Reimer-Horner says this will be a great help.
“We decided we were going to try to figure out how to pay off the remaining two-million dollars owing on this project,” Reimer-Horner said. “So, I decided to sell the house for profit – obviously – and that profit-money going to pay off the rink.”
Remier-Horner hopes this idea may continue to help pay off the rest of the complex.
The total cost was 10-million dollars.
