Here I sit at my computer after a wonderful week off. Guess who didn’t win the lottery? Everything with the coffee machine was working as it should be this morning. I remembered the combination to my locker. Plus, I remembered all of my passwords. I’m all set to go!
I also got more exercise this morning than I’m used to. I had to jump over a pool of water that has collected at the sewer drain in front of our house that has been there since Thursday night!
In the spring, following a couple of nice downpours we had, the water at the sewer drain was taking it’s sweet time to drain. It was usually gone by morning, but it took that long. Obviously something is up with the drain, so I called the City of Regina twice and explained the problem. Nothing happened. I don’t even know if anyone from the city drove by and had a look, but if they did, all would seem well, until now.
About a block and a half up from our house a water line must have broken last week. There was a lot of water that was appearing from nowhere and running all the way down to the drain in front of our house. The city showed up mid-week and worked on the problem, but they didn’t fix it. Water is still running down our side of the street, which would be no problem if it had a place to go. The trouble is, the water is gathering at our sewer drain and it’s not going anywhere and hasn’t for the last 4 days. It looks and smells like pond water, with that white scum on top. I have to walk about three feet in front of my vehicle just to be able to find a spot to jump on to the street to get to the drivers side.
We called the City of Regina on Friday, for the third time. We were given a reference number and told the crews would be made aware of the problem. It was the same old song and dance.
I hope something gets done this time, because I won’t be quite as pleasant if I have to call for a fourth time!
