The Canadian Taxpayers Federation wants a rollback in transition allowances for Saskatchewan MLA’s.
Premier Brad Wall and former economy minister Bill Boyd are leaving office shortly, and both qualify for a maximum transition allowance of 93-thousand dollars from provincial taxpayers.
Taxpayers Federation spokesperson Todd McKay says the two politicians should not receive one year’s pay.
“We want to make sure the folks leaving the province are compensate fairly,” McKay said. “But six months may be too generous. 12 months is too much. They need to show some leadership on this one.”
McKay did have some rare praise for Saskatchewan politicians over this year’s 3.5 percent pay cut and reformed pension plans.
