Saskatoon Police say a man who fell off a bridge and into the south Saskatchewan River turned out to be an alleged thief.
On Tuesday night, Police were called to the CPR Train Bridge to investigate a report of someone walking in the river.
A second call pointed authorities to the Train Bridge where a man was dangling off one of the pillars.
Fire and Protective Services rushed to rescue the man — who was intoxicated — from the water.
Police then learned the 37-year old man was wanted in connection to a theft.
He was taken into custody and has been charged with theft under $5000.00
