Well, I was wrong. Yesterday I blogged about having a doctor’s appointment at 11 with a 100% chance that I’d be left in the waiting room for a long, long time, as per usual. That wasn’t the case at all.
When I first checked in, something happened that hadn’t happened to me on previous visits. First off, the lady behind the desk was actually quite friendly, which threw me for a bit of a loop. Secondly, I was told how many patients were ahead of me to see my doctor and how long my wait would likely be. It would be approximately a 45 minute wait, so I was told I could have a seat or take off and do a few things and come back in half an hour or so, without losing my place in line. Wow. I was quite shocked. I do like this new system. Seeing as I had nowhere to go I decided I’d just hang around.
While I was sitting there, a doctor came out and asked for a Mr. Miller. A gentleman got up and followed the doctor down the hall. About 5 minutes later, the doctor and Mr. Miller were back in the waiting room. The doctor asked if there was another Mr. Miller in the crowd. Indeed there was! The first Mr. Miller took a seat while the second Mr. Miller got up and followed the doctor down the hallway. Everybody got a good chuckle out of that one!
At 11:15 a lady came out and asked for a Jamie. I didn’t respond at first. Who knew if there were two people named Jamie there? After all, I just witnessed a mix up with two Mr. Millers! When no one else responded, I got up and made my way to see my doctor. That 45 minute wait turned out to be only 15 minutes! I’m glad I didn’t go anywhere.
By the time I was back in the parking lot getting in to my vehicle, I realized that I was only in there a grand total of 40 minutes.
Now, that’s my kind of appointment!
