Hunters in Saskatchewan are being advised to use extreme caution when travelling in rural areas due to a high threat of wildfires.
As a result, Stock Growers and the Wildlife Federation have issued a joint advisory.
The two groups want all hunters to take extra precautions to avoid starting a grass fire this fall.
Stock Growers manager Chad MacPherson suggests carrying a fire extinguisher.
“Just some little things that can help put out a fire before it gets away on you,” MacPherson said. “The fire extinguisher, a shovel. Anything you can use to help put out a fire.”
MacPherson also suggests hunters avoid unnecessary vehicle-idling and stay on existing trails.
