The city of Regina has issued a fire ban this afternoon across the queen city that takes effect at 5:00 p.m. Friday afternoon.
All solid fuel burning fire pits that use clean seasoned wood, manufactured fire logs and charcoal are banned from use until further notice.
Fire pits and barbecues that are fueled by propane or natural gas are exempt from the fire ban.
The city says after careful monitoring the ban was issued due to the exceptionally dry summer and the onset of fall which brings dry dormant vegetation, adding moisture conditions of the remaining ground vegetation have deteriorated substantially over the past week, especially in the city’s parks, open spaces and undeveloped land.
The ban is effective until further notice.
