The Saskatchewan Advocate for Children and Youth, Corey O’Soup will be investigating the death of a five-year-old boy in Saskatoon on Monday.
The boy was found unresponsive near a pond after morning recess at Dundonald School on Saskatoon’s west side.
He was taken to hospital where he was ultimately pronounced dead.
The school division requested the Advocate’s office to conduct an investigation into this case.
It acknowledges the experience of the Advocate’s office in investigating critical injuries and deaths of children and has offered full cooperation in this matter.
The Advocate for Children and Youth is an independent officer of the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan.
He leads a team of professionals who work on behalf of the province’s young people.
