You and I all have one thing in common. We are humans with imperfections and that is a-ok! We all have things about ourselves that we may like or dislike, but the majority of us accept it and move on with our lives. Sometimes it can go to far.
Last night I read about a young 27 year old female who spent over $800,000 on 200 plastic surgery procedures to look like Wonder Woman. Yes, over $800,000! She claims the fictional superhero is her idol and wants to look like her. She’s had nearly everything nipped, tucked and implanted including the removal of six ribs to get the size 16 waist she wanted.
I think it’s fair to say this is the definition of going way to far. It’s fun to look like our favourite superheroes, villians, personalities, etc….that’s why we have Halloween, cosplaying, and themed birthday parties so we can dress up for fun and, perhaps, bring joy and excitement to kids. There is nothing wrong with having an idol especially if they guide you in a positive way, whether that be a parent, grandparent, friend, or even a superhero. I doubt Wonder Woman would want one of her fans to change their body for her! It’s perfectly alright to like a fictional character, but just because you don’t look like that character doesn’t mean you should change your body to match him/her. Accept the imperfections and enjoy life!
Jamie Lewis is my favourite character, but I’m sure as heck not going to spend $800,000 on hair gel to look like him! The point is, love yourself and love your body and lets not spend nearly a million dollars on looking like a superhero today.
