This morning when I got into my vehicle to come to work I did all of my usual preparations. I turned on my seat warmer(I know, I’m a wuss), grabbed some parking change out of the console, and then buckled up and got ready for my 10 minute trip downtown. As I peaked into my rear view mirror I noticed that the interior light over my rear door was on. I had never seen that before. I don’t even know how to turn it on!
I shut off my vehicle so all of my interior lights would go out, and they did, except for the one over that darn rear door. Hey, what’s going on here? I couldn’t figure it out.
I got outside my vehicle and went to the rear door and opened it and gave it a good slam. Maybe when I took Max to the dog park yesterday I didn’t close the door all the way. That didn’t help. The door was closed solid.
So, I got back into the drivers seat and started looking for a button I might have accidently pushed to turn the light on. Again, nothing. This was getting stupid. I’ve had this vehicle 5 years and I’ve never even used this light. How could it just turn all by itself?
Oh well, I couldn’t hang out in the front of the house all morning, I had to get to work. I drove in to work with that darn light on, figuring I’d grab my manual when I got to the station and do some troubleshooting.
When I got to the station I thought I’d have a peek at the light itself, so I went to the back of my vehicle and opened the rear door again, and that’s where I found the problem. The light had a switch that had to be manually clicked over to turn the light on. Max must have knocked that when I he was jumping around in the back yesterday, and because it was daytime, I never even noticed the light was on!
Obviously the light eventually turned itself off after a while because my battery wasn’t drained when I started up my vehicle for work this morning.
Who says you can’t teach a 54 year-old dog knew tricks? Thanks to my 5 year-old dog, this old dog now knows how to turn off the rear light!
Thanks Max. Where were you when I needed you at 3 A.M.?
