SGI is gearing up for an expected increase in damage claims from Tuesday night’s wind storm.
The insurance company’s Tyler McMurchy said he expects claims will come in over the coming days.
“Judging from social media were seeing a lot of different impacts from the storm, from things like falling trees damaging property, so it’s very possible that we’re going to see a good number of claims,” McMurchy said on Wednesday.
As of 4:00 p.m. Wednesday afternoon SGI said they had received 1,104 claims, 270 for the auto fund with the remaining 834 property related.
He said if you do have a claim, make sure you document damage to help speed the assessment.
Wind gusts reached as high as 131 kilometers per-hour Tuesday night in Moose Jaw and 119 in Regina.
