The Saskatchewan Stock Growers Association has launched a campaign to support food banks across the province and the goal is collect 10 thousand pounds of ground beef.
Stock Growers manager Chad MacPherson says producers are being asked to donate beef cattle or cash towards processing.
He hopes producers will dig deep to help food bank recipients.
“We’re sure hoping so,” MacPherson said. “We’re still overwhelmed by the response we’ve received from the inaugural campaign. We set a moderate goal of 1,000 pounds and ended up being able to donate 8,500 pounds.”
The ground beef will be distributed to 28 food banks across Saskatchewan.
