As expected, SGI has been getting damage claims from this week’s wicked wind storm.
The provincial insurance company’s Jennifer Rathwell says the calls have been fairly steady saying well over one-thousand people have filed claims from across the province – both for property and vehicle damage.
Breaking those numbers down, Rathwell says there were 270 auto claims, and 834 for damage to property.
“There’s probably going to be a few more as we continue on,” Rathwell explained. “As people are assessing their damage and going through their property. I think the majority of calls would have come in yesterday, but we’re still busy today.”
- Widespread power outages challenged SaskPower crews Tuesday night and Wednesday
- Alberta firefighter died in line of duty near Burstall, Sask., officials say
Rathwell says the number of claims stretches across most of the province – with the lion’s share coming from the southwestern area.
“These numbers are province-wide,” Rathwell said. “270 auto claims and 834 property claims from all across Saskatchewan.”
Rathwell says if you are filing a claim, it’s best to contact your insurance broker first.
